APPS4AFRICA 2010: CIVIC CHALLENGE

In 2010 the Apps4Africa competition brought together local technology entrepreneurs to build tools that serve the needs of local non-governmental organizations and their communities in four East African countries. Private sector partners ran the competition and organized brainstorming sessions in which civil society groups challenged program developers to find innovative technological solutions to everyday problems on issues ranging from transparency and governance to health and education. A panel of judges chose winning projects based on their potential to have a measurable impact as well as their ingenuity.
