SMS updates when public funds are available for buying bricks, or other materials that can be locally sourced to young people

We want an Ushahidi Java mobile app for Voice of Kibera and all! (via @mapkibera)

It is an internet based application that can be accessed through out the world. The system can be used to launch surveys (Such as hospital services: How services are provided, in Schools: how teachers do their job, in government: how democracy and other things are performed etc) and record user responses. There will features like emails notifications of surveys, publishing of survey results, report generation etc. people/ users will be sending messages via phones, emails or postal mails.

Locate Constituency Development Fund projects or Local Authority Transfer Fund Projects. An app could allow citizen’s to send reports via voice, Image or text.

In Tanzania we have a good number of individuals (professional teachers or non-professionals) who have interests in assisting youths in academic matters. This portal will be a gateway bridging the gap between teachers and students regardless of their location or which schools they are located or teaching or studying.

This will be a place where some of the schools could take this as an opportunity to show the public that they have the best teachers by exposing them to students from any school to ask questions, guidance etc on relevant subjects

The project aims at creating a courses portal for east African students. It will allow registered users of the system to join a course available in the site and access the materials published for the course. People can register themselves as students of a course or Tutor for a course.
The course home page will contain the title of the course and a brief description, there will be a brief discussion board for each course where students can interact, an announcement board, and course content for the material available. Tutor can upload the course content, Quiz and tests.

I would (as would many in the non-profit sector) love a way to map
relationships between orgs/staff/initiatives that could be easily
accessible via mobile and linked to GIS and related databases.

but the "realms" of influence could be sorted/arranged based on area
of focus--i.e. health, education, etc.; or neighborhood--South Ward,
North Ward; City...whatever field is most relevant to the individual

can someone please build a blackberry app for Ushahidi?

From a participant at an event I attended recently:
- Make an app that lets phones view and navigate Ushahidi maps easily. The phones should support feature phones, not just smartphones (and something beyond location-based text alerts). Could be a java app, or a website that is more easily browsed from a feature phone.
