We want to carry out assessment of education through standard 1-8. We want this to be accessible to all households. It’s a set of 5 questions to be sent via mobile -- SMS to administer or USSD. People submit the answers through the phone and they would need to be tagged, etc. and indicated as right or wrong. We’d be relying on the parents to administer the test to the children.

Help People in Kibera Find the Resources in Their Backyard through SMS
Map Kibera is already mapping assets of the slum community. People who live there should be able to query the MK database thru SMS and find out where to go for medical help and other needed services. Local service providers could then also register the phone #s that query so they can send out relevant info.

Airtime Conversion
How many times have you found yourself stuck with mobile phone airtime from a provider different from the one you use?
The system I propose would alleviate this by converting the airtime from whichever provider to airtime that you can actually use without resorting to buying another SIM card. Charges for the services can be levied as a percentage of transaction amount.
Why?
Because many a time the shops could be out of the airtime that the subscriber requires but have plenty of airtime from a different service provider.
